A Message from Your Chapter Chairman, Benjamin Rabe, CEM
Dear Colleagues,
I hope everyone is enjoying the summer. It is my pleasure to present to you the latest news for our chapter.
The Midwestern Chapter provides connections for members by producing easy-access events and networking opportunities for our members. Local chapter events promote year-round engagement for the trade show and event community and contribute to the development of strong relationships among members. It is at the chapter level where grass roots membership growth takes place. Furthermore, many chapter members experience valuable educational and networking opportunities that help them build and foster professional friendships in their hometown. We rely on our individual members to set, lead, and execute the mission and goals of the chapter. In order to continue to provide the best networking and education opportunities to our trade show and event community, we need your help! We invite you to take part in a committee. Help us build the future of the IAEE Midwestern Chapter. Committee members connect at different times of the year typically around a common event or function. Volunteer for a committee that meets and works during one of your slower times during the year.
Committees are led by the Board of Directors and center on the following areas: Charity Communications and Social Media Engagement Education Programming Fundraising & Sponsorship Membership Engagement Special Events including Indoor Sports in February Golf in September Holiday party in December Serving as a committee member will help you foster professional friendships and provide you with an opportunity to grow in your career. If you are interested in getting more involved, please contactme directly.
Also, if you are interested in applying for a position on the Board of Directors, please access the application form here.

About the Chicago Hornets:
The Chicago Hornets are a Youth Sled Hockey team consisting of kids ages 5 to 20 who have physical disabilities yet are determined to play ice hockey. As almost all children do, they want the opportunity to participate in sports and feel the camaraderie of being part of a team. In some cases it's not even to play hockey; for some, it is their only freedom outside a wheelchair or walker.
The program is completely free to all of the children. Funding is from gracious donations from people like you and 100% of the money collected goes directly to equipment and ice time.
The program was started eight years ago by JJ O'Connor, a former hockey player who sustained a catastrophic accident in a hockey game, to give these children a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the sport of hockey.
Check out the YouTube page to see these young athletes in action.
If you are interested in learning more about the Hornets, or would like to become involved (and possibly play in a game) please contact our Chapter Charity committee chair, Pam Nutting.
