October 2015

A Message from Your Chapter Chair, Lisa Goecke

Lisa Goecke

 Dear IAEE Midwestern Chapter Members:

I can’t believe it is already October. Last spring, I talked about the experience of “Show Season”, but for many of us, fall is “Show Season”. As you navigate all the last details and execute amazing events, make sure you are taking breaks and reminding yourself why we all love this crazy business.

Thank you to all of you who attended our Annual Meeting. What an awesome panel (I’m not just saying that because I was the moderator), great information. We are truly excited about what is coming next for IAEE Midwestern Chapter. We hope to continue to make positive changes and become the best chapter in the country!

Our Charity
As many of you know our Chapter supports the Chicago Hornets as our Chapter Charity. The Chicago Hornets are a Youth Sled Hockey team consisting of kids ages 5 to 20 whom have physical disabilities yet are determined to play ice hockey. As almost all children do, they want the opportunity to participate in sports and feel the camaraderie of being part of a team. In some cases it's not even to play hockey; for some, it is their only freedom outside a wheelchair or walker. Over the last several years, I’ve had the opportunity to interact with some of the players and I can say, without a shadow if a doubt, that they are some of the most inspirational people I’ve had a chance to meet.

On October 18, we will be hosting a sled hockey game against the Hornets at Seven Bridges Ice Arena in Woodridge. This is a rematch of our 2013 game that is sure to be a fantastic time. FAMILY AND FRIENDS ARE WELCOME! Please come out and support our fundraising efforts and have some fun with your industry colleagues – plus it is a serious ab workout. :-)

All proceeds from this special event will benefit the Hornets.

Looking forward to seeing you at the game.

--Lisa
