How Increased Situational Awareness and an Improved Guest Experience can Improve your Event Security

Presenter:
Mark Herrera
Director of Education, International Association of Venue Managers

As exhibition and event professionals, we have the responsibility of ensuring that attendees are as safe as possible at our events. It is critical that there is a plan of action allowing for quick decision making.

This session provided an engaging, interactive experience for participants interested in event security. We covered situational awareness, understood the resources available to protect public facility assemblies, and heard from subject matter experts on critical infrastructure protection to help you understand mass casualty incidents and preparedness during an event.

This session allowed our attendees to see how educating those involved in the planning and execution of a meeting or event has an impact on event participants.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Learn to leverage guest services to mitigate safety and security risks.

  • Hear how enhancing professionalism and assisting employees in recognizing the Impact their words or actions have on the public.
  • Increase personal safety and decrease stress when encountering someone uncooperative.

Industry Xchange is an industry-wide, collaborative education and networking event for the meeting and events industry. Gain new perspectives on key trends and issues facing the meetings industry today and what they mean for your business opportunities and beyond.

In collaboration with Choose Chicago’s Annual Meeting, IX2018 will be held at the Wintrust Arena for an afternoon of education, networking and a blow-out celebration on Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID)!

What is GMID?

Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) is a global meeting initiative driven through the Meetings Mean Business partnership. Meetings Mean Business is an industry-wide coalition to showcase the undeniable value that business meetings, trade shows, incentive travel, exhibitions, conferences, and conventions bring to people, businesses and communities.

By rallying industry advocates, working with stakeholders, conducting original research, engaging with outside voices and more, the coalition brings the industry together to emphasize its importance. Comprised of over 60 members, the coalition unites the meetings industry with one strong and powerful voice. In 2016, MMB partners hosted over 100 events in more than 30 countries in all corners of the globe to showcase the real power of meetings, events, conventions, exhibitions and more.

How Big Is Your Pipe

Educational Program and Member Mixer - Attend and earn 1.5 CEM credits
Donald E. Stephens Convention Center

About the Program:

We know we need it, but do we know what “it” is?

We’re talking about the internet and navigating the terms you hear, but may not fully understand.

V-Lan?

2Gig redundant?

How do personal hotspots and 3G/4G technology affect your decision?

Are you paying too much by not asking the right questions for your group?

This insightful panel will discuss the ins and outs and the latest updates in a constantly changing environment.  Whether you’re looking at an in-house meeting at a hotel for 300 people or an event at a convention center for thousands, we’ll help you understand what you need so you can budget correctly and get the best service for your event participants.

It’s crucial to know the format of the delivery and we’ll tell you why, as well as define commonly used terms and send you off with a quick reference guide to take back to the office and share.
