Young Professional's Virtual Meet-up

12:00 - 1:00 PM (CST)

Young Professionals - Emotional Intelligence is key, awareness is everything. The more you understand you, the more you can build and excel your Personal Brand.

Join us February 9th, 2021 to learn how the Enneagram Personality Assessment reveals how emotions drive our lives and how we engage with others.

Step 1: Take the super quick and easy assessment to determine your enneagram type: https://www.crystalknows.com/enneagram-test

 What is the Enneagram Personality Assessment?

  • The Enneagram is a personality system that reveals how emotions drive our lives and how we engage with others.
  • The Enneagram defines nine personality types, each with its own set of strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for personal growth.

Why?  Being able to understand the basic motivations of different personality types can help one communicate and relate to others. Understanding similarities and differences between personality types can give you the skillset necessary to work better with colleagues and can improve how you show up to your coworkers. Everyone has fears and desires; we may seem different on the surface, but in reality, we are all seeking similar things: connection, understanding, support and acceptance.

‘Twas the night before Convention

‘Twas the night before Convention, when all thro’ the hall,
Not a creature was stirring, and there was no union call;
The signage was hung in the atrium with care,
In hopes that attendees soon would be there;
The meeting planners were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of badges and barcodes danc’d in their heads,
The McCormick and Choose Chicago teams did final prep,
But what they saw next made them freeze in mid step.
The newscaster on CNN was sounding the alarm
Something called Covid was about do us all harm.
International travel was halted in a flash
Convention goers cancelled flights in a dash
Airports and hotels emptied more and more each day
Internet deliveries and stay home orders were here to stay
When who to our wondering eyes did appear
But the good Dr. Fauci dispelling our fear
A lively old doctor so truthful and wise
We knew in a moment he’d tell us no lies
More rapid than eagles the vaccine trials came
Newscasters cheered, and shouted, and call’d them by name:
“Now! Abbvie, now! Moderna, now! BioNTech, and Pfizer,
“On! Sanofi, on! Merck, on! Johnson and Johnson;
From the Pacific Northwest to the Berlin Wall!
Now test them!! test them! test them all!”
Spring turned into summer and then on to fall
Meetings went virtual and every meeting was a Zoom call;
Some cities tried hard to keep in person meetings going,
But even with masks and social distancing, attendees were slowing
As the holidays approached, cases began to spike
Stay home orders came back, to many peoples dislike
When the world needed good news, Fauci and the pharma companies were there
The news of vaccine approvals made the stay home orders easier to bear.
2020 was rough, but there was finally a glimmer of hope
Just when we needed it most, and Zoom calls have everyone at the end of their rope.
2021 is looking up and we will travel again!
Dust off suitcase, and let’s jump on a plane!
Happy Holidays from your friends in Chicago!
We look forward to welcoming you back for show!

Virtual Meeting & Exhibition Platform Demo:

Time: 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

As we continue the path to resume some normalcy in our professional lives, virtual meetings are now the new reality. Come join your colleagues, as EXPOCAD® VMP educates us on their platform.

Pivot, Pure, Hybrid – Three scenarios of Virtual Events

A virtual event is any event that conveys sponsor/vendor/education/poster information on-line instead of in person. At the simple scale, a PDF with links to the exhibitor’s website is a virtual event. The level of complexity of virtual events increases from there dramatically. EXPOCAD® has been doing virtual events since 2006. This is not new for us. EXPOCAD® Virtual Market Place can manage any size event and works with its own conference module or one of the organizer’s choice using multi-cloud technology.

We all are about done with the word ‘pivot’ at this point. It does describe an event that had to do a mid-course correction due to the inability to hold the live event. Michele Bennett, Senior Exhibition Manager from SPIE, will share her experience with having to make a change to maintain audience and continuity for her organizations’ events.

Is there anything new to learn about virtual events? YES!!

  • How speed to market made a difference
  • Market analysis of what an organizer can do to increase revenue and ‘booth’ traffic
  • ADA compliancy (ASL, CC, Screen Reader, High Contrast Interface, etc.)
  • User interface requirements needs vs. wants
  • Multi-cloud applications

You are Going Virtual! What Now?
Thursday, May 7, 2020 | 10:00 - 10:45AM

In an industry that is used to planning face to face engagement, this year has been a difficult time for us. Resiliency and innovation is the back bone of events and exhibitions, and we have seen countless organizations step to the plate to find a new normal.

Many events and exhibitions are hosting their events digitally, and the IAEE Midwest Chapter wants to hear from you on what you have done and how you have found success in virtual formats.

We invite you to connect with your colleagues to share successes, challenges, and questions you have about hosting online meetings.

Please come prepared with anything you would like to discuss, but some topics that will be covered are:

  • Where do you start as you look to transition to digital?
  • How do you get engagement from attendees?
  • How do your attendees engage with exhibitors?
  • What products or solutions are available to use?
  • What are some successes your organization has had so far?
  • What are some challenges?
  • How do you incorporate digital and live meeting components at future events?
